Choosing the dress

A bit of advice.

Pack-friendly fabrics — jersey, fine knits, lightweight satin and beaded chiffon — travel without showing the journey.
For full formal nights, a long evening gown is rarely wrong; for smart-casual evenings, a shorter cocktail dress or column gown carries the look without overdoing it.
If you cruise often, consider two dresses you can re-wear with different jewellery, wraps and shoes — and one statement gown for the captain's night.
